The 2012 Audi A4 is a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury sedan, or luxury wagon, available in Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige variants with eight trims. Available in convertible (Cabriolet), sedan and wagon body styles, the A4 is a four-door compact premium vehicle. The car receives minimal updates for the model year 2012. The sedan and wagon versions can accommodate five passengers, while the convertible can seat up to four. The Audi A4 offers great driving dynamics, generous space in its luxurious interior, and a plethora of electronic equipment. Mainly a carryover from 2011, the 2012 Audi A4 is faster, bigger and fuel efficient.

The 2012 Audi A4 is available in 2 distinct body styles such as sedan and wagon (Avant). Both come in Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige trim levels. The high-performance S4 model is covered in a separate review. 17-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof (panoramic on Avant), automatic headlights, automatic wipers, cruise control, foglamps, automatic climate control, eight-way power front seats, a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, a dash-mounted Audi Multi Media Interface (MMI) and a 10-speaker sound system with a CD player, auxiliary audio jack and satellite radio comes standard with the Premium trim. Blutooth and an iPod interface is featured in this trim as an optional Convenience package, while the Style package includes bi-xenon headlights, LED running lights, self-leveling headlights and bright metal exterior trim. On the contrary, the Premium Plus trim features all of the above mentioned features, along with 18-inch wheels, sporty S line bodywork, three-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, driver memory functions, split-folding rear seats, auto-dimming mirrors and an enhanced trip computer. The MMI Navigation Plus package adds a navigation system with real-time traffic, digital music storage, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, voice controls, HD radio, a color trip computer screen and MMI controls located on the center console. The A4 Prestige comes standard with adaptive headlights, a power liftgate (on Avant models), keyless ignition/entry, a blind-spot warning system, the Navigation package and a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system (optional on Premium Plus). Options unique to the Prestige include the S line package (19-inch wheels, summer tires, faux-suede seat inserts and special exterior and interior trim), the Drive Select package (which provides adjustable settings for the steering and transmission), adaptive cruise control, a power rear sunshade and manual rear side sunshades. The new Sport package which had been added in the Premium Plus trim, sports a sport-tuned suspension, a three-spoke steering wheel, more aggressively bolstered seats and automatic transmission shift paddles. Optional rear side airbags are available on Premium Plus and Prestige trims only, but any A4 is eligible for wood interior trim.

The 2.0T Sedan FrontTrak Multitronic is equipped with a standard 2.0-liter, I4, 211-horsepower, turbo engine that achieves 23-mpg in the city and 30-mpg on the highway. A variable speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The 2.0T Avant quattro Tiptronic is equipped with a standard 2.0-liter, I4, 211-horsepower, turbo engine that achieves 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

The 2012 Audi A4 features sophisticated safety features that generally is present in the premium car segment such as driver and passenger airbags, LATCH, ESP, ABS with EBD, and tire pressure monitoring system as standard fitments.
